Research Databases

This website includes two searchable databases and two interactive maps, which detail the activities of more than 300 Latin American artists living and working in Paris between 1918 and 1939. The database of artists chronicles the country of origin, residency, schools attended, group and individual exhibitions, government grants, awards and honors, and Parisian contacts of Latin American artists living in Paris. Where possible, sample images supplement each entry. An additional database focuses on the Parisian galleries that that hosted at least one individual or group exhibition of Latin American art, listing addresses, ownership, dates of operation, and a sampling of additional exhibitions and artists hosted by that gallery. To complement the databases, one map plots the residential addresses of the Latin American artists living in Paris and another charts the addresses of the galleries.
