Ask a Librarian
Ask a Librarian is a free service by the museum's library staff providing answers to questions about the world of art, including museum history and general information. The Ingalls library staff will answer your queries as quickly as possible. If an answer is needed urgently, please contact the reference desk at 216.707.2530.

Before you ask your question, please take a moment to consider the following:
  • If you are asking about artist information or artwork, please provide as much information as possible. A picture of the artist's signature on the object can aid the library staff immensely.
  • Can you place the object in a time period, art school, movement?
  • Asking for a picture of the "Statue of Liberty" is vague. Do you need an image of statue during the opening, construction, restoration, or demolition? Who is going to use the image? Elementary students, higher education, personal viewing, and/or group presentations?
The library staff can not appraise artwork, but can recommend other institutions that will.
