The Cleveland Museum of Art

Exhibition Banners (Box List)

Description: Exhibition banners are displayed outdoors around University Circle and downtown Cleveland to publicize current and upcoming major exhibitions. They may also be hung in the museum store. Most banners are made of vinyl although some of the earlier ones are canvas and several are nylon or cloth. They have been rolled on cardboard tubes with unbuffered tissue paper to protect them. Vinyl banners have been cleaned with warm water. Some of the canvas/cloth banners have been vacuumed using the textile conservator's hepa vacuum.
