A Book By Its Cover: the Romance of Modern Photography

Submitted by Matthew Gengler on

Here we have the Romance of Modern Photography by Charles Gibson. One can't help being captivated by the gilt cover of this little book which portrays nine technicians developing, "the largest photograph in the world." The largest in the world as of 1908 at least. The introduction declares, "It is not the author's purpose in the present volume to give any instruction in the practice of photography," adding, "His object is to tell the romantic story of the discovery of this wonderful art."
