Celebrate OCTAVOFEST at the Ingalls Library

As part of the city-wide month long celebration of book arts, the Ingalls Library staff has mounted two exhibitions.

The first, in the display case in the reference area, showcases books made by Cleveland Heights book artist Zena Zipporah. Zipporah portrays herself as "a visual artist who likes to work with words. I have done assemblage, painting on paper, collage, artist books, and altered objects. Themes have included creation/destruction myths of many cultures, vanishing languages, and spiritual traditions." The palm-sized books are a visual delight.

The second exhibition, also in the reference area, features books made by members of Art Books Cleveland (ABC). Art Books Cleveland is dedicated to exploring, encouraging, and teaching both contemporary and traditional artistic practices of the hand-made book. Membership is open to both new and experienced artists, providing opportunities to exhibit and promote their work, while sharing individual skills with each other through member workshops. The exhibition showcases books made by 10 Cleveland area artists.

Be sure to stop by the library to view the books on display. Your concept of the traditional book will be altered! The books are on display through the month of October.
